Motorcycle safety is something that every rider should be aware of. The truth is no one takes time to talk about why motorcycle accidents happen. You might already know that accidents can happen for many reasons but the number one cause of a motorcycle accident is rider error.

Keep in mind this is not your fault. The best part about this fact is that you have some control over it. You can make up your mind that you will be the safest possible motorcycle rider. Part of being safe is to keep your bike up to date with inspection. Look at it and see if it needs tires, breaks or anything else. If you find that something needs to be replaced or repaired, do so right away. This will help to make sure that your bike is not the cause of an accident involving you or someone else.

Another important safety tip is to look over your owner’s manual and read everything you can on how to maintain your bike and any safety tips they might offer. Take a look at features such as a windscreen to determine if adding one or buying a bike with one is something you want to do. When you start to ride, find your center of gravity. Knowing this will help you in case something happens and you must stop quickly. This will help to balance your bike and cause fewer accidents. Consider the option of having and using pegs and not highway boards. Also check for dragging pegs. The last thing you want is a peg to drag if you have to stop or down you bike in a hurry.

One more thing that goes overlooked is the faster you are going on your bike, the less you weigh. This is another thing you must try to remember when you come to a stop. Follow these safety tips and you will be fine.
